The DER Grid Service Value and Dependability Task Force’s objective is to help utilities and stakeholders evaluate where and how DERs can reliably support distribution and transmission grid services. While DER adoption continues to grow, uncertainty around their performance, dependability, and locational value presents a barrier to considering their participation as cost-effective solutions to deliver grid services. This Task Force will bring together utility planners, DER providers, and regulatory experts to co-develop practical guidance for qualifying DERs to deliver critical grid services through a structured, collaborative process.

Over 9–12 monthly meetings, we’ll explore select service-specific performance criteria and valuation methodologies with the goal of producing a planning framework to guide the evolution of utility planning processes.
