Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG), the leading source of global expertise for energy systems integration and operations, has hired Devonie Oleson as Director of Communications.
Oleson brings more than 15 years of strategic communications leadership in the energy sector to ESIG. Based in Colorado, she has worked across the national lab system, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the broader energy research community. Most recently, Oleson served as Group Manager for Science and Technology Communications at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (formerly NREL), where she led teams building award-winning science communications and stakeholder engagement campaigns. Her work has spanned grid modernization, renewable integration, high-performance computing for energy applications, and community energy planning—consistently focused on turning technical complexity into real-world impact.
Oleson will lead strategic communications, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement initiatives while strengthening organizational systems and project coordination across ESIG’s technical and operational teams as they continue to scale.
“ESIG is doing exactly the kind of work the energy transition needs at this moment—bringing together all the right stakeholders to solve the integration challenges of today and tomorrow,” said Oleson. “I’m thrilled to help expand ESIG’s technical leadership and build on the trusted foundation the team has established.”
Oleson holds a B.A. in Radio, TV, and Film from Northwestern University and an M.S. in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Strategic Innovation from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has deep experience building strategies that extend research impact, developing technical explainer content, and designing project management systems that increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
