Featured Speakers: Eamonn Lannoye is a Senior Project Manager at EPRI focusing on renewable and DER Integration into operations and planning for transmission systems and wholesale markets. He is responsible for EPRI’s R&D in the area of assessing system flexibility, operational planning studies and DER market integration. He has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and PhD in Power Systems from University College Dublin, Ireland.

Mathilde Lallemand is working at ENTSO-E as a Team Lead for TSO-DSO interface and Digital Strategy. She worked previously at RTE, the French TSO, in different positions (key account manager for DSOs, advisor to the board on topics regarding Europe, market design and economy of electrical system, R& D engineer on electrical system and market issues ). She holds an Engineering degree (Diplôme d’Ingénieur) from Supélec (Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité, Paris) and Master Degree in energy engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH, Stockholm).

Gerda de Jong is working at ENTSO-E as Market Advisor, with main focus on market design, the TSO-DSO interface, distributed flexibility, regulation, compensation schemes and tariffs, and sector coupling. She is seconded from the Dutch TSO TenneT, where she worked in different fields: system operations, asset management offshore, and market design & flexibility. She graduated from Eindhoven University of Technology and holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Technology.

Jens Boemer, Ph.D., is Principal Technical Leader in the Transmission Operations and Planning group at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He leads EPRI’s strategic research on integrated transmission & distribution planning and operations, including projects on the grid integration of renewable and distributed energy resources with a focus on power system stability issues. He obtained a Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands in 2016, and prior to that worked for 10 years to help facilitate the German “Energiewende” (energy transition).

Webinar Abstract: The question of how to transition a power system to reliably, effectively and efficiently operate in a future with an increasingly material DER and prosumers occupies many minds around the world. The interface between transmission systems and distribution networks is one of the critical junctures in this evolution, and the way planning and operations happens across that interface is evolving rapidly, as a consequence. In this webinar, teams from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the European Network for Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) will share their collected insights from Europe and North America on the promises and challenges of improving coordination across the transmission and distribution divide.
